October 2004

Eastminster sustained substantial damage from Hurricanes Frances and Jeanne.

Due to insurance deductible and some uncovered expenses necessary to better accommodate worship services in the Fellowship Hall, we will experience over $95,000 in unbudgeted expenses.

Session has approved a campaign to accept money from those who wish to contribute toward our reconstruction costs.  Money received from those willing and able to help cover these cost, will prevent depletion of our reserves.  Money given should be designated "Hurricane Reconstruction," or placed in an envelope marked for this purpose.

We thank those who are willing and able to participate in this effort and we understand that many of our members will be unable to respond because of overwhelming personal demands in the wake of these storm.

The Restoration in the Sanctuary is Complete

Collins and Associates, under the direction of Donnie Jones, President, have completed the repairs needed due to the hurricanes of 2004.  We thank them for replacing all of our roofs, restoring our sanctuary, repairing our preschool classrooms, Melvin Hall and parts of our Christian Ministry Center.  There was a lot of work to be done.  Collins and Associates handled all aspects of the work very professionally.  They were a joy to work with!

Our new organ should be delivered some time in August and we are still waiting for repair or replacement of the CMC air conditioning system.  While not quite back to "normal," we have made a great deal of progress.  We have been blessed.
