Bible Study

At Eastminster we consider Bible Study an essential part of living the Christian life. With that as an objective there are several types of Bible study small groups meetings at different locations and at different times thought-out the week.

Alpha Course

The Alpha Course consists of a series of talks addressing key issues relating to the Christian faith. It’s open to anyone that would like to come. Quite frequently Eastminster is the host for this study that includes the general community. Local Baptist and Methodist, as well as other Christian groups often join Eastminster for the Alpha study. It's a great opportunity to bring someone new.

The evening generally starts out with a group dinner. It progresses to a very interesting and entertaining video series. The study closes with a discussion of the video and what’s coming up for next week.

The Purpose Driven Life

This very popular study focuses on the book by Pastor Rick Warren, at Saddleback Church in Lake Forest California. Each week a new chapter is covered by the group. This study can best be summarized by the following;

The most basic question everyone faces in life is, “Why am I here? What is my purpose?” Self-help books suggest that people should look within, at their own desires and dreams, but Rick Warren says the starting place must be with God and his eternal purposes for each life. Real meaning and significance comes from understanding and fulfilling God’s purposes for putting us on earth.

Crown Financial Ministries

If you want to get control of your finances from a Biblical point of view then this is a great place to start. Jesus had more to say about finical issues (money) than any other topic. If you know where your money's going then you know where your heart is. This course is conducted by a trained, “Budget Coach,” that leads the group. There’s some commitment to this course in terms of homework time, scripture memory and practical number crunching of your finances (all confidential of course). There's also a charge for this course. In Christ's Image Training

This is a on-line (internet), home-study curriculum that is designed for self-disciplined Christians who study well independently and seek to be conformed to the image of Christ. Students read two chapters per week and complete multiple choice and short essay questions at the end of each 6 weeks of study. These 6-week "tests" are submitted via email to ICIT where they are graded. Those completing the course earn a certificate. There is a charge associated with this course. Groups meet on Wednesday evening or Sunday morning to discuss what God is teaching them.
